Molecular Genetics Laboratory Techniques: PCR To Next-Generation Sequencing

A hands-on advanced course covering the core wet-lab and analytical workflows behind modern molecular genetics. Learners move through nucleic acid extraction and quality control, conventional and quantitative PCR, gel and capillary electrophoresis, Sanger sequencing, and the full next-generation sequencing pipeline — library preparation, target enrichment, sequencing chemistry, and variant calling. The course pairs technique theory with troubleshooting (contamination, primer-dimers, low yield, batch effects) and covers good laboratory practice, controls, and result validation. By the end, participants can select the right technique for a research or diagnostic question, run it correctly, and critically interpret the output.
